Martin Scorsese’s next movie is “Shutter Island,” adapted from the novel by Dennis Lehane who is probably the best crime writer alive. I have this dream to adapt Lehane’s first novel, “A Drink Before the War,” into a movie. It’s one of his Patrick Kenzie-Angie Gennaro detective yarns. The characters have been in a movie already: the criminally under-appreciated, wonderfully directed “Gone Baby Gone,” which did just enough business to justify its existence in 2007. It was directed and co-adapted by Ben Affleck, who is on point.
