Create handsome tax credit programs and Ashton Kutcher will come

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution finally wrote about Georgia’s new-fangled tax credits — as high as 30 percent — that are luring buttloads of film production to the state. Our latest coup is the new Miley freakin’ Cyrus movie, “The Last Song,” which is based on a Nicholas Sparks novel.

Found a few awful photos I took with a point-and-click when Rob Zombie swung through Decatur while shooting “H2″ (or “Halloween 2″) in February. Here they are:

The town of Haddonfield, Ill., hosts its Halloween Festival the day Dr. Loomis comes to Leeland Books. Again, Decatur doubled for Haddonfield, which I don't believe exists.

Also, if you’re at all interested, Zombie already cut a full theatrical trailer for the movie, which opens in August. It looks decent. They notably removed Michael’s mask. Looks kinda crazy.

What I do when I run into Rob Zombie

A few blogs informed me Monday night that Rob Zombie was going to be in Decatur — a city in which I lived until I moved to East Point last month — shooting a sequel to his poorly-received-but-insanely-bankable “Halloween” reboot that came out in 2007. This new one is called “H2″ or “Halloween 2.” Peeps said they would be shooting in front of the recently shut down Wordsmith’s book store, so shortly after I clocked in at work, I hopped on the Marta and headed for Decatur with a little point-and-click to see if I might capture a photo or two.
